We've got dirt!

Things are movin' and shakin' in AV Community Park these days!
Things are movin' and shakin' in AV Community Park these days!

The high school all-weather track project is in full swing next door, and a symbiotic agreement has been made for the AV Community Park/Skatepark development project to receive their surplus soil! Rege Construction, the lead contractor on the AV High track project, happily agreed to transfer excess soil from that project to the Community Park, creating efficiencies for both projects. The AV Skatepark and Community Park Project calls for more than $70k of fill, and soil imported from the track project meets specifications from our soils engineer and will cover much of that need. Rege Construction also graciously prepared our site at no cost, removing topsoil from the entire area where soil was placed and grading and compacting the area between the blue play structure and future skatepark.

We are working with local landscaper and native plants expert Pam Callaghan to plan for seeding the area with new soil to prevent erosion and encourage native habitat development. Pam will lead the AV Service Learning Team in seeding the area prior to the Fall rain.

AV SKATEPARK PROJECT

Anderson Valley needs more public spaces for recreation and community connection. Our goal is to improve our community and support local youth by building a skatepark in Boonville.
