Park Design Workshop #3: Park Safety and Landscaping

This third public park design workshop took place on May 9th in AV Community Park. About 34 community members participated. Officer Aaron Clark from the Mendocino County Sheriff's Department supported the conversation with guidance on safety and enforcement of park rules. Other local specialists included landscaping expert Pam Callaghan (who specializes in native and drought-tolerant plantings) and artist Martha Crawford (who specializes in mosaic art installations).

Workshop activities covered the following topics: 

1) Safety, use, and access 

2) Art 

3) Landscaping

4) Locating new elements on a site map, with a focus on art and landscaping 

The workshop included two bilingual tables with Spanish translators.

AV Service Learning Team students did a great job supporting the workshop and facilitating small group conversations!
