Pilot Mosaic Trash Bins Installed in Park

ree

AV Community Park is looking good! Thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation of Mendocino, two beautiful mosaic trash and recycling receptacles were installed in the Community Park last week. The mosaic panels were created as a collaborative project involving AVUSD summer school 4th-8th graders, Jr./Sr. High Service Learning Team students and a handful of local volunteers, under direction of local artist, Martha Crawford.

It's wonderful to see this splash of color and feel the unique community touch in our park, and it's exciting to imagine more of this to come. As an extension of the existing mosaic entry arch created by artist Rebecca Johnson, the AV Skatepark/Community Park Project development scope includes a large student-designed mosaic welcome wall, as well as mosaic stools and two more trash/recycling receptacles.

Thank you to artist Martha Crawford for her inspiration and artistic leadership to make this happen!
