AV Students Visit State Reps in Sacramento!

ree

Eight AV Service Learning Team students (along with 2024 alum Kellie Crisman and group leader Noor Dawood) visited Sacramento in March 2025. The aim of the trip was to give students the opportunity to learn first-hand about the California legislative processe , and also to meet with our state representatives to about the AV Skatepark Project. The students worked hard to prepare for meetings with Senator Mike McGuire and Assemblymember Chris Rogers, and carried out those conversations beautifully as a team, despite various unanticipated circumstances. It was a huge challenge, but every student stepped up to have a role, and learned so much in the process!

We are very grateful to Senator McGuire and Assemblymember Rogers for taking the time to hear from AV youth and learn about our community's needs. We look forward to making this project happen together!

AV SKATEPARK PROJECT

Anderson Valley needs more public spaces for recreation and community connection. Our goal is to improve our community and support local youth by building a skatepark in Boonville.
