In recent months, AV Service Learning Team students have begun preparations for art in the future park. Guided by AV Community Park Art Director Martha Crawford, the students have been spending their Tuesdays creating mosaic art: working with various tile sizes and shapes, blending different colors, trying out the looks of different tile densities, and experimenting with different sized projects. This has given students the chance to deeply understand how mosaic art works, opening exciting possibilities. With a newfound appreciation and understanding for how to make art with mosaics, students are now working to plan the mosaic design for the park’s new entrance and donor appreciation wall. The future wall is a massive open canvas! The design for the wall is still a work in progress, but the art is certain to be an amalgamation of what youth in our community love about our valley.
