VA design firm with CA roots will design AV's new skatepark
We're very excited to announce that Skatepark design/build firm Frontier Skateparks has been hired to complete the first phase of design for our new skatepark. Mike Greenwald is the lead designer/builder, and he has volunteered many (many!) hours to support our planning process since May 2022. We connected with Mike after reaching out to Zachary Wormhoudt of Wormhoudt Inc, the reputable firm that designed the Ukiah skatepark, among many others in California. Zach recommended Mike as a highly skilled and experienced skatepark builder, and a great match for our small community. Mike has been building skateparks for over 25 years, and entered the design/build realm via Frontier Skateparks in recent years.
At $5,000, the first phase of the design process centers on two community design workshops facilitated by Mike and Frontier Skateparks graphic designer Justin Le. Mike will develop a draft rendering based on input from the first workshop, and that design will be assessed and refined by the community in the second workshop. At the end of this phase, we'll have a 3D rendering of our final custom design on site, and a final cost estimate for the project.
The first design workshop has not yet been scheduled, as various civil engineering surveys must be completed before we can proceed with design. We anticipate moving forward with the design process in mid-February.
It's been such a pleasure to work with Frontier Skateparks so far. We look forward to welcoming them to our Valley soon!
