AV Skatepark Project architect Alex Korn and septic engineer Chris Rau are working to custom-design the public bathroom that will be developed in conjunction with Skatepark development. The ADA accessible design includes two flush toilets, with a convertible vault design for future connection to the public septic system, once completed.
The design will feature ultra-low volume touchless toilets and sinks, as well as waterless urinals in each bathroom. A single 2500 to 3000 gallon septic tank will be installed, and will include an alarm to provide notification when pumping is required. Based on the estimated number of visits per day and water usage per visit, we anticipate that the tank will need to be pumped two to three times per year, at an average cost of $2,125/yr.
The design will also include plumping in preparation for a connection to the new Boonville public septic system, which is being developed by the AV Community Services District. Pumping will no longer be necessary once the restroom is connected with the public system.
The bathroom will also feature a two-level water fountain and water bottle filling station on the exterior of the building.
The restroom's walls will also be a great opportunity for public art! We are exploring the possibility of a mural project.
