Findings help shape fundraising scope and phasing
During the summer months, we carried out an analysis to determine potential donor support for a broader re-envisioning of Anderson Valley's Community Park. In addition to a skatepark, the more ample scope included a range of other potential park improvements, such as toilets and drinking fountains, a pavilion for informal gatherings and cookouts, a climbing boulder, and an exercise pad.
The analysis is now complete, and we are grateful for the collective wisdom of the individuals who provided thoughtful feedback on our plans. Some key findings were:
A majority of the interviewees (70%) said the community is served “not very well” or “poorly” by the existing park, with the remainder of participants saying “moderately well.” No one said the park serves the community “very well.”
The overwhelming majority of participants (84%) said the need to re-imagine the park is “extremely important” or “very important.”
The proposed park features identified by participants as top priorities were the toilets and drinking fountains, the skatepark, and the pavilion.
The majority of interviewees (68%) said they would consider a role in leadership or as a volunteer for a fundraising campaign.
The overwhelming majority (89%) said they would consider making a gift to the project.
Insights from the study have helped tremendously in our process of honing the scope and phasing the project, as well as thoughtful structuring of a more formal fundraising campaign to build on our early success.
