$2.4 million requested for proposed AV Community Park Development
Under the Anderson Valley Community Services District (AVCSD), we have submitted an application to the CalTrans Clean California Local Grant Program for $2.4 million to cover construction of the skatepark and other park developments planned by the AVCSD Parks & Recreation Committee. Grant awards will be announced in September 2023. If we are awarded the grant, skatepark construction is planned for Summer 2025, and all grant components must be completed by June 2026.
Skatepark-related features included in our application were:
12,500 square foot skatepark (per our custom design)
Viewing area with seatingÂ
Two shade structures, designed and built by AV students under the guidance of a local architect
Water fountain
New fencing
Access paths
Landscaping coordinated by a local native plant specialist
Bioswale to accommodate drainage
Trash and recycling receptacles with mosaic panels completed by artists and AV students
Entrance wall featuring mosaic and handmade donor appreciation tiles, also a collaboration with students and artists
The application also included other AV Community Park revitalization projects planned by the AVCSD Parks & Recreation Committee, including:
Greenflush vault restroom (which can later be converted to plumbing, when the public water and septic system is finalized)
Community Pavilion gathering area with community kitchen
Revitalization of existing playground picnic areas
New access paths
Wayfinding and interpretative signage
New fencing
Additional water fountain
Additional trash and recycling receptacles with mosaic panels
